Christians Tour Israel and The Galilean Region

The Galilean region is stunning, spiritual, powerful and uplifting place to visit on a Christian tour to Israel. Here you’ll find scenic hills and slopes of the Galilee gently reaching down to the Sea of Galilee, the famous lake from the Bible where Jesus found His disciples and the largest fresh-water lake in the land of Israel.

The Galilee is where the Bible comes to life. Matthew writes 4:13, He went from Nazareth, to the hear to Galilee, and to Capernaum by the shores of the lake named Genesaret. This is where He gathered his first disciples – fisherman whom He found at the shallows of the Galilee casting their nets (Matthew 4:18). Here in the Galilee you’ll “walk where Jesus walked,” along the shores of the Sea of Galilee, in the same place where Jesus and His disciples lived, worked and where Jesus began His ministry.

When on a Israel tour, you’ll understand why Jesus chose Peter (John 21:15-17 ) and other fishermen in the Galilee for his apostles, “the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was let down into the lake” (Matthew 13:47 ). Along the Sea of Galilee Hills that roll down to the lake is also the setting for the feeding of the 5,000 (Matthew 15:32-37) with just a few loaves of bred and a few fishes.

From the Bible, He appears on the shores of the lake to his disciples after His resurrection for a 3rd time. A few disciples including Peter where out fishing at the Sea of Galilee, and not catching anything. In the morning, Jesus appeared on the shores but they did not recognize Him, asking the disciples to cast their nets to the other side of the boat (John 21:6). Doing this, they caught so many fish the disciples weren’t able to drag the net back into the boat and instead dragged it behind to the shores.  After this Jesus and His disciples had breakfast together on the Shores of the Sea of Galilee (John 21:9 ).

One of the more popular activities during a Holy Land tour to Israel, is sailing in a boat replicas from Jesus times in the Sea of Galilee. Many Christian Pilgrims take this time to celebrate the life of Jesus, and prey, and read from the Bible during the boat ride. The Sea of Galilee is fed by undergrounds springs, and it’s main source the Jordan River. This is the famous river Jesus was Baptized by John the Baptist, and this is the same area where Jesus begins his ministry.

At the northern Galilee region you’ll find mountains and hills that raise from either side of the valley that in ancient times led Pilgrims to the kingdoms.  Here you’ll find Hazor, conquered by Joshua and created by King Solomon. You’ll also find the Dan, where you can stand at the High Place that even after Jeroboam’s great efforts was no match for Jerusalem, and Caesarea at the headwaters of the Jordan, where the Lord asked his disciples “who do people say that I am?” (Mark 8:27 ).
