Nazareth

Nazareth is a city in the Galilee with significant biblical importance. The focal holy site in the city is the Basilica of Annunciation, where believers celebrate the site when the angel Gabriel announced to Mary she would bear the son of God. Nearby is St. Joseph’s Church said to be the site of Joseph’s workshop. The Nazareth Village, an open-air museum, reconstructs daily life in Jesus’ era. The underground Synagogue Church is where its believed Jesus prayed and studied. In Luke’s Gospel Jesus is referred as "Jesus of Nazareth," and nearly all Christian Holy Land Israel tour itineraries include a stop in the city.
